Chana futures to remain buoyant in the near term on the back of strong millers offtake along with bullish cues from international market. The NCDEX futures spurted by almost Rs 96 per quintal in the last trading.
Strong millers offtake ahead of upcoming festival demand spurred strong gains in both spot and futures market in the last trading. Millers are currently buying the chana around Rs 4300-4300 per quintal at Delhi mandi. This might also provide some support to the prices around these levels.
The spot prices of other varieties of chana such as Akola and Latur increased by almost Rs 25 per quintal in the previous day to close at around Rs 4-4650 per quintal with the total arrivals of 35 thousand bags.
The NCDEX November Chana contract increased by almost Rs 96 per quintal to settle at Rs 4412 per quintal in the last trading. The NCDEX futures were trading in the range of Rs 100-120 per quintal from the last two trading days. The contract pared 700 positions in open interest indicating short covering by speculators and traders. Technically, prices are likely to gather some buying around Rs 4380-4390 per quintal while resistances are likely at Rs 4440-4450 per quintal in the short term.
